How do the voltage and current of a charger relate to the voltage and current of a rechargeable battery?

I was trying to figure out how many volts or the amount of current I would need if I was to make a battery charger. Depending on the type of battery would I need to make sure the voltage or current is correct, and would the volts need to be above or below the voltage of the battery? Sorry if I don’t have some of the electric principles down, but I couldn’t find an answer anywhere else, so any help would be very much appreciated. Thank You!

Where is my voltage regulator?

I have a 1988 3/4 ton dodge van it has a 5.2L V8. I just had my alternator rebuilt. I have a fairly new optima battery, and my battery/alternator tester says that it is good. but I’m not receving the power from the alternator. If someone could let me know where my vlotage regulator is or any other info on what might be wrong,

Is the voltage of a car battery enough to kill you?

This is a weird question but… I was getting a jump on my car today and we accidentally messed up the jumper cables and the electricity was just flying. Out of morbid curiosity, if you were stupid enough to grab both ends of the cable, is the charge of a car battery enough to fatally electrocute a human? I guess I’m mostly curious out of fear lol.

Can a Comparator be used to find the voltage of a battery? If yes then how?

Im trying to make a battery tester for a small project. The battery is a rechargeable 12v battery. its a LM339 Comparator. If its possible for the comparator to have a led light come on at 3v, 6v, 9v, and 12v, or anything in between. If this is possible are there any other parts i will need. a diagram would be nice if at all possible
would this be possible with just the one battery
is it possible for one comparator to light up all four leds or would i need a comparator for each light and a regulator for each light

How do I use a voltage tester?

I’d like to test for power getting from point a to point b in my car (ie, getting to the wiper motor). I have a tester that came with a toolkit I bought.
It looks like a screwdriver with a little bulb inside.

How do I check for voltage using this? Do I test with battery connected or disconnected? And how does it work?

BTW,
There’s no ground wire connected to this device.
