Is it the solenoid, alternator or starter or could it just be that I didn’t clean the crusties off the battery cable the right way? It starts for a while but when left over night it makes the clicking sound.

Okay here’s the story my car won’t start up, every time I charge the battery and jump start it, it turns on, but after like 5 mins it turns off again. The alternator is not the problem because I tested it in autozone and its good. What do u think is the problem?

I hav a 94 chevy c1500. Yesterday the battery level dropped and starting marking low voltage on the dash. I checked the battery with the voltmeter and its at 12.17v. The alternator was just tested and its good. I put jumper cables on it from my dads car and the car started and battery went [...]
why would a truck start by connecting the negative to a spark plug cap when it wasn’t before?

My truck (02′ ford f150) had difficulty turning on this morning, so my dad tried this trick he learned. He connected a voltage tester to the negative from the battery, and the other end to one of the spark plug caps….started right up. Can anyone explain why this worked? I’m assuming he reset something.
