I’ve got an ’86 blazer and it cranked before i bought it except it didnt have an alternator. The mechanic put a battery in and hot wired it so it would crank without the alternator and he connected one of those big chargers on wheels to the battery and it was out of gas so he put some in the carb and it cranked but ran out once the gas was used up. I now have it at my house and i got a new battery hooked up and my friend and i put in an alternator from o-reilly auto parts and hooked up the fan belt. Now we have to hotwire the positive side of the battery to the back grounding wire on the alternator just to get power to the truck so the lights turn on and it’ll try to crank.

It tries to turn over but it won’t sputter or anything. All you hear is the starter and fan moving but nothing happens. We took out one spark plug and grounded it but it didn’t spark. Wtf is wrong?
I tried connecting a charger to the battery but still nothing. And no to the junk yard idea. I’m set on getting it cranked and fixing it up.
I thought about the fuel pump but we put gas in when me and my friend tried cranking and it didn’t start and he put it in the carb. Also there still isn’t spark from the spark plug wire. I got gas i just don’t have electricty to my spark plug to ingite the gas

Just going through a few things trying to diagnose why my 83 yamaha scooter isnt starting. Ive tried charging the battery with no result other than faint tailight/turnsignals and a working horn. However the charger is pretty old and cant say for sure that it is working properly…Im going to take the battery and charger in to auto zone to test them, but in the mean time ive tried disconnecting the spark plug, grounding it, and kickstarting the engine just to see if it would spark, but it isnt. So…even if the battery is dead, would the plug spark if it was good? (consdiering that there ISNT an issue with a wire connection elsewhere…..)

I know my lawnmowers, but engines with electric systems are a new world for me haha..

Thanks!!
