I have a 15 amp battery charger with an ammeter on it, What does it mean when the meter goes to 10 amps then?

down to zero amps, then back to 10 amps. It’s doing this over and over. I am used to charging a battery and it will start out at about 15 amps then slowly go down to 2 or so amps and the green light will come on saying “fully charged”.

Does the back and forth motion of the meter mean the battery is bad? It’s a deep cycle battery.

Both jaws of each clamp must firmly engage the battery terminal. The wire soldered to the copper insert jaw must be insulated from the other wire soldered to the opposite handle. It is used in 6 Volt and 12 Volt automotive and commercial starting batteries and 12 Volt starting and charging systems.
