when jumpstarting a car why is it recommended that you ground the negative jumper cable of the car you are trying to jump on your engine instead of plugging it in to the negative terminal is this so electricity stays in the battery and doesn’t just circulate through it?

It is a brand new battery with 220 CCA and I put a new starter on. It won’t start unless I use jumper cables. A friend who owns a lawncare business says the battery needs at least 350CCA for a 16.5 HP mower. Have never heard this before.

The battery was removed from the rear end location and I cannot open the rear door without electric power and I cannot access from the inside as I left the hinged floor board in the up postion.
