Xbox 360 controller rechargeable battery pack problems?

I purchased the Xbox 360 play and charge kit. I have had it for over 2 months and it has just stopped charging when on the charger. It is not a faulty charger because when i unplug and plug the charger back in all the lights light up. Yet when I put the rechargeable battery on the charger it doesn’t light up and it doesn’t charge. How can I fix this?

Best rechargeable battery for 360 controller?

I bought a 360 battery kit from Microsoft and the battery stopped holding a charge after about a month. I know of other companies that make batteries for the 360 controller but there are a lot (and there’s always the option of using rechargeable AA batteries).

So my question is what battery produced by what company (360 specific or AA) is the best?
