<description>The item appears to be brass, but is really aluminum that is anodized a brass color. The crimp between the two isolated parts is poor so that they flop apart when the knob is loosened, requiring a few turns of the knob to be sure it does not contact. The end that is like a battery post is smaller diameter that a negative battery post, so the battery clamp has to be tightened to an excessively small size to hold properly.

<description>I have used one of these for almost ten years. My antique car sits for weeks between trips and the battery was often low or dead. The battery froze in winter if not charged regularly. This switch prevented those problems entirely. Simple, easy to use and I had no problems with installing it on the negative post or with loose connections. Only trouble was after 8 years there was corrosion or an oxide layer under the screw which caused high resistance and slow cranking, but that was easily cleaned and it works like new again. I get years more life out of my batteries with it.

<description>I was looking for a well-made battery disconnector made in the USA, and this is not it! It is very cheaply made and will not hold up after it is tightened down because if it has to be removed, the terminal arms will break apart. Not recommended.

<description>I use these on my travel trailer. Each time it is unused for more than 10 days, the slow drain for the tank monitor, propane detector etc. is enough to kill the batteries. Excellent product
