when jumpstarting a car why is it recommended that you ground the negative jumper cable of the car you are trying to jump on your engine instead of plugging it in to the negative terminal is this so electricity stays in the battery and doesn’t just circulate through it?

I left my headlights on, and, I started it back up with my jumper cables and someone else’s car, It works now, I got my car running and got home and it runs now, will my battery die again or will it stay fixed the whole time?

I have one of those nifty yellow jumper boxes and it says on it it can also charge a batteyr and It refers me to the owners manual that I have lost. So can someone tell me what I need to do to utilize this feature. I think it’s calld trickle down charging.

Is it the solenoid, alternator or starter or could it just be that I didn’t clean the crusties off the battery cable the right way? It starts for a while but when left over night it makes the clicking sound.

I have a 2000 montero sport my car will start while it is on jumpers but when we take the jumpers off it turns off right away,when trying to charge it only hold a charge up to 50 ,I know I need a new battery but could it be my alternator too?

Did you connect it to a battery terminal or did you ground it on the frame? (Anyone ever blow up a battery?) I am guessing that the majority of people do this in the less advised manner.
