I purchased this 2 years ago, right around when B&D took over Vector. Mine is marked B&D, as is the one you’ll get, not the older Vector livery as shown here. I was concerned about the new product brand, but had good luck with Vector products in the past, so I gave it a try.

First of all, the Compressor is LOUD but it works very well. It develops good pressure and takes only a few minutes to bring a tire up 10PSI or more. It also comes with adapters for filling volleyballs, footballs, etc. I’ve had a few semi-useless 12V compressors in the past, this is miles better.

The jump starter will pay for itself the first time you don’t call a tow truck for a jump. Even if you have AAA you won’t wait an hour for the truck to come, just jump and go. An added bonus is that no one will blow your vehicle electronics by starting their engine on your jumper cords (which is the improper way to do it- charge their battery and then let them start on that with the cords detached). Keep your expensive vehicle electronics locked under the hood where they belong and just grab this jump starter.

The built in trouble light is not overly bright but very usable. It is at a good height to help you change a flat tire. It is also LED so no worries about it running down the battery.

The internal battery is AGM, it can be recharged from your vehicle but should only be done in an emergency. The higher voltage of the vehicle alternator is hard on the AGM chemistry. If there is one thing I don’t like about this jumpstarter is the external 110V Wall Wart recharger. It is easy to misplace, and is low capacity so it can take a long time to do a full recharge. If you have room in your trunk, consider the larger VEC026BD which recharges from any 110V extension cord.

One thing about all these portable Jump Starters- they have to be charged to work! They also need to be in your vehicle to work! I charge mine every month, when I check the oil and top off the windshield washer fluid. Take care of it and it will be there when you need it.

I’ve only 2 problems with this unit:

1) the air pressure gauge failed immediately, it shows about 2.5 times the actual tire pressure. occasionally it hops to correct reading, but 95% of the time it doenst.

2) it should have come with a car to ac adapter allowing it to be ran and charged from the cig lighter. running off the battery takes a very long time to get even just 10psi into a tire. otherwise it runs pretty well off the ac.

I purchased this unit last November for a vehicle I had that had ‘problems’ maintaining air pressure in one of my tires. It worked great for about 6 months. BUT when I tried to pump up my neighbors tire in July, I couldn’t even get the thing to turn on. Plugged the unit in to recharge and left it until the little green light says its fully charged. Still wouldn’t work…no air NOR no power to the battery jumper cables. (I didn’t register the warranty card so Vector says “oops, so sorry”. I wonder how things would have gone if I had registered it??)
